15 Dec - We traveled by United Airline from New Orleans (Louisiana) to Austin (Texas) and then on to Orlando (Florida) where we picked up a hire car. Driving on the other side of the road was going to be a challenge but I don,t think I did too badly on the drive from Orlando airport to Cocoa Beach (Cape Canaveral). After we had settled in to the hotel we decided to go out for a late lunch and wondered down to one of the most popular venues on Cape Canaveral, the Cruise ship terminal. Much to Ron's pleasure there were 3 ships in port and we were treated to two of them sailing out to sea past our restaurant as we dined on a good steak and veg.
Later that evening we got to check out the extensive choice of groceries at the supermarket. The different Christmas foods were interesting especially the range of 'cookies'. Ron found that the meat was expensive.

16 Dec - Kennedy Space Centre
Our Christmas present from the kids and what a fantastic day we had. We got to see launch pads, authentic re-entry module, rockets and the most spectacular of all, the Shuttle Atlanta. Oh, of course we also got to see a couple of alligators which seem to be in every pool of water in Florida! This day was a real highlight.

Although Florida is warmer than what we had been experiencing, it is getting cooler and looks like there is a freeze coming in the form of another weather system which may bring further snow to the north of us. Who knows what is ahead of us weather wise in the next few days. Mind you, all you have to do is turn on TV and you get to watch news and weather as it happens 24/7. Also went to the cinema to see the second Hobbit movie.
We drive north tomorrow, destination unknown.
