Barcelona - 21 March

Today we had set ourselves a challenge to try the Barcelona Metro system to move from sight to sight. Accessing the metro maps in our guidebooks it wasn't long before we worked out where we needed to go and the metro line that we would need to take. The ticket machines were easy as you could have the instructions provided in a number of languages including english.

Montjuic was first on our agenda. This hill is located right on the ocean front, has a lovely park and is topped by Castell de Montjuic which was a fort, is the location of the Barcelona Olympic sight and a palace. There was a cablecar available from the metro station to the top of the hill.

Having visited the fort we meandered down the hill past the olympic grounds and palace and then on to a world trade fair sight which now houses major exhibitions and events when they come to Barcelona.
Ron was keen to get back to Sagrada Familia and we enjoyed lunch in a cafe across the street. Again we meandered through the streets of Barcelona toward our apartment, passing the old Bull Fighting Ring and Arch de Triumpt. Bull fighting has become illegal in Barcelona so we would not be able to watch that spectacular any time soon.
