VENICE 11 Sept

Another 4 hours in the coach and we arrived in Venice. We were taken to our hotel by boat. Our room was “fantastico” with our window opening out to a small canal where Gondolas’ drifted by. Venice is packed with tens of thousands of tourists (including us) but its splendor does not let you down.

I have to tell you that by this stage we are exhausted and the afternoon spent with a local guide and whose command of English is mediocre, walking through St Marks Basilica and the Doge Palace, is wasted on a weary group. CM didn’t let us down and again got into trouble for attempting to take a photo in a no camera zone. Having an afternoon and evening free we rested then spent an excessive amount of money on a meal. However it is not every day that you sit on the edge of Venice’s Grand Canal watching the passing water traffic and eating spaghetti.
