Mrs Wilkes - 20 Dec

 We continue to stay in the very beautiful historic Savannah.  Today we visited the Savannah Historic Museum and Railway Museum.  I have included a little video footage showing Ron working the rail trolley.

The highlight of the day was a visit to the culinary gem called Mrs Wilkes.  This small and unique restaurant is set out like the southern family dinning room and brings its guests together on tables seating 10, to share in a southern food feast.  Bowls of southern food including fried chicken are placed on the table and dinners pass the plates of food around the table. It was terrific as I sat and spoke to a mother and her son from Augusta, Georgia, who were visiting Savannah as he had an interview to join the Savannah College Arts and Design (SCAD).  Ron sat next to a family of women who lived in Orlando but originated from Peru and Columbia. The conversation flowed easily while we tasted each of the delicious dishes.  It was only $18 a head including a main course, pudding and sweet Georgia iced tea.  It is so popular you have to queue to get a seat.

We spent the rest of our afternoon walking Mrs Wilkes off.  However, we did pop into Leopalds which is a famous ice creamery here in the city.
