The Crypt of the Capachins, yes we went there! How could we resist with such an introduction. It was the creepiest thing I have ever seen and it smelt like mouldy old bones to. Essentially a group of monks had been inspired to create several works of art using the dried bones and in some cases dried bodies of dead monks and the poor. You have to wonder, who would even go there in terms of creativity? Seriously, they have made lamps with electric light bulbs wired in out of peoples bones. Don't forget to put it on your site seeing list should you come to Rome.
Did you know that Rome's bars have a happy hour each day where for a reasonable sum of money (6 Euro) you can buy a glass of wine and help yourself to a snacks buffet free of charge. It's a little like the Italian's version of Tappas. Yes, we went there too!
Had you guessed that all english language main stream movies are dubbed in Italian when shown in the italian cinemas. Just to be different, tonight we decided to go to the cinema to test our stamina at sitting through a movie dubbed in Italian. We watched the latest Adam Sandler RomCom and it was great fun. We were a little surprised when they had intermission. Those Italian's like their cigerette breaks.
Not an onion in sight when our meal arrived at the Chinese Restaurant we found a couple of streets from our apartment. Yes we know, when in Rome. However, we ate lunch at a restaurant situated across the square from the Pantheon and you couldn't get anymore Roma than that! So to add to our day of being different, dinner was non-traditional.
The day was a great success with quite a number of the usual site seeing spots and a great many activities that were a little different. It has wetted my appetite for a return visit in the future. What else awaits me on the streets of Roma?
Oh, and should anyone be in need of a cloak to take Sunday Mass we know just the place to find one.
