Cruising - 5-6 April

One of the numerous guides said, "You are all on a wine tasting tour. During your cruise of the Greek Islands you have had a taste of what each island has to offer. Some you will like, some you will dislike and those that you love, you will return to in the future". Yes I would agree that it feels like we have been on a wine tasting tour. We have been presented with a variety of choices and as the 'tasting' goes on it all becomes a blur, there are moments where you laugh uncontrollably and moments where you feel very sorry for yourself, all resulting in a mighty hangover the next morning. On the 5th of April we visited the gorgeous and tiny island of Patmos, then cruised on to the mainland of Turkey docking at Kusadasi. Patmos is famous for Saint John the Divine who dictated the text for the Bible's Book of Revelations. Here we visit the cave in which he worked and where it is said that he was visited by Jesus. Patmos is very pretty and would be worth a return visit. Kusadasi is Turkey's equivalent to the French Riviera and the launching point for a visit to the incredible king of all archaeological sites, Ephesus. This will also be worthy of a return visit. Having cruised overnight we arrive at Rhodes on the 6th. We are given a whole day on this Greek Island and start the morning with a tour to the town of Lindos. The afternoon is our own and we take time to explore the fortified old city of Rhodes which was built under the instruction of the Knights of the Templar. It is extremely impressive and we enjoy getting lost in the metre wide allies. Between the on shore excursions we busy ourselves attending the various activities on board the ship. We attend the last of our group of 16 joint dinners and a chocolate extravaganza where the chefs and cooks put together a chocolate feast.
