Having you ever been so tired that you feel disorientated and faint? You would not think that we would be suffering from exhaustion having spend 10 hours sleeping during our stop over in Dubai. However, after our 5 hour flight from Dubai to Athens it is just how I feel.
Perhaps the vodka/lemonade mixer that I drank with my meal might have tipped me over the edge! Ron drank so much rum and coke on the flight that we both got the giggles and couldn't stop. We were laughing at our laughing. The real highlight of the flight was when a flight attendant who was buckled in for our landing bore the brunt of the melted contents of an ice bucket as the wheels hit the tarmac with a jolt. He could do nothing about it until the plane came to a stand still.
We had arranged an airport pick up in Athens and spent a painful 45kms listening to our Greek driver explain the highlights of Athens and the impact of the GFC. Michael (Greek driver) took us past all his known associates to ensure that we knew the best Taverna and jewelry shop in the old district of Athens called the Plaka. When at last the taxi ride had finished and we had dragged our suitcases to our sixth floor room, it was all worth the hassle. There, through the large window in our room and laid before our weary eyes, was a magneficient view of Athens' prise possession the Acropolis.
