We find ourselves arriving in Port Douglas with mouths wide open. To our astonishment it is nothing like we imagined. Tropical resort after resort leads you toward the CBD. Here the designer sunglasses vie for the best spot at the very best cafes. After a brief afternoon tea sitting on the rocks at the edge of the waterfront, we make our way back through Port Douglas to the Captain Cook Highway. We take the road south and enjoy the gorgeous views as the road hugs the coast. A quick peek at Palm Cove (20km north of Cairns), a long drive through Cairns and we are heading for our destination, Kerrimine Beach.
Our home for the night is our tent pitched at the waters edge in the council run Kerrimine Beach Caravan Park. A simple venue with stunning views!
